"Making voluntaryist principles work in a feudal society with a strong fantasy element was a fun challenge as a writer," Lela said. "Although this short was more in my wheelhouse than the alternative history short 'A Bridge at Adelphia' was last year, it still challenged me to write a short story that includes nontraditional elements for a fantasy, which is what makes these anthology projects enjoyable."
